
Administration's drive to evict illegal establishments in Kaliganj

Upazila administration has launched a drive against illegal squatters in Kaliganj, Gazipur on Thursday afternoon.
About 30 illegal establishments were evicted in the Kaliganj Bazar bus stand area of Ward No. 4 of Kaliganj Municipality. Led by UNO and Executive Magistrate A.T.M. Kamrul Islam.
During the drive, four cases were filed under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and the Municipality Act and a total fine of Tk 77,000 was collected. Out of this, Sanjay Ghosh, owner of Comilla Mishtanna Bhandar, was fined Tk 50,000, Md. Milan Mia, director of Tithi Bakery, was fined Tk 25,000 and two others were fined Tk 1,000 each.
Earlier in the morning, another separate drive was conducted under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zakia Sarwar Lima.
Present during the operation were—Kaliganj Police Station Investigation Inspector Md. Ashraful Islam, Municipality Assistant Engineer Monnur Ahmed, members of the police and Ansar force.
Mobile Court Judge and UNO Kamrul Islam said, “No illegal establishment will be tolerated in Kaliganj. No action will be taken against those who voluntarily vacate the premises. If necessary, legal rehabilitation of the evicted establishment will be arranged.
