Zahid Ahsan Russell re-elected in Gazipur-2

Incumbent State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell has been unofficially re-elected as Member of Parliament (MP) in the 12th parliamentary election from Gazipur-2 constituency.
Awami League candidate Russell bagged 103986 votes, while his nearest contestant independent candidate Kazi Alim Uddin got 81,804 votes.
Russell was first elected as an MP from the Awami League in 2008. He also won the previous 10th and 11th general elections with the 'boat' symbol.
Russell, one of two sons of late Awami League politician Ahsanullah Master, had served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry for 10 consecutive years.
He was made the State Minister for Youth and Sports in 2018.
