
Youth tied with tree, beaten on suspicion of mugging in N’ganj

A shocking incident took place in Narayanganj where a young man was tied to a tree and brutally beaten after being accused of mugging.
A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the victim hanging from the tree with his hands tied while a group of agitated young men kicked and punched him. Several bystanders were seen recording the incident on their mobile phones.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the Central Shaheed Minar in Chashara.
Abdur Rahim, a tea seller near the Shaheed Minar, witnessed the attack and said, "They dragged the boy here, calling him a mugger. Then they tied him to a tree and started beating him with sticks and rods. After some time, they let him go."
Zahir Mia, a street food vendor, added that such incidents are not uncommon in the area. He mentioned that people often beat up suspected thieves or muggers near the Shaheed Minar, and that conflicts between different groups of teenage gangs also occur frequently in the vicinity.
Mohammad Nasir Ahmed, OC of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station, stated, they learned about the incident afterward. However, by the time the police arrived, neither the victim nor the attackers were present.
