
Youth hacked to death , arson atrack at opponent's house in Pangsha

A youth named Rashidul Mondal (27) was hacked to death due to a past enmity in Pangsha of Rajbari. The incident took place in front of Nibha Government Primary School in Patta Union around 9:30 am on Saturday (May 3).
.The deceased Rashidul is the son of Kiamuddin Mondal of Patta Uttarpara village.
The deceased's family said that Rashidul, who had gone to Barisal to harvest paddy, returned home at 1 am on Friday. The next morning, while he was going to bring paddy, a group of terrorists led by Rafiqul Mallick (son of Sunai Mallick of Nibha village) ambushed him. Locals rescued him and took him to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex and later to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. Accused Rafiqul is absconding since the incident.
Rashidul's wife Zarina Akhter said, "My husband had a previous dispute with Rafiqul. He had attacked our house before. This time he hacked my husband to death. I want justice for this murder."
Meanwhile, the house of Patta Union BNP Organizing Secretary Maruf Hasan Sumon was set on fire in the wake of the murder. He said that the deceased Rashidul was an accused in a case he had filed. He had heard that a person named Rafiqul had killed him due to a previous enmity. As a result, he claimed that the opponent set fire to his house.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Pangsha Circle) Debabrata Sarkar said, "Police were deployed immediately after the incident. The situation is now under control. An investigation into the arson incident is underway. One person has been kept in police custody for initial questioning in this incident."
