Young man hacked to death in Satkhira

A dyer named Sheikh Abdus Salam (50) was accused of being hacked to death by phone calls.

The incident took place at Thanaghata Sheikhpara village of Labsa Union of Sadar Upazila around 9 pm on Tuesday.

The deceased Abdus Salam is the son of deceased Sheikh Abul Kashem of Thanaghata Sheikhpara village of Satkhira Sadar Upazila Labsa Union. Md. Mohsin Hossain, brother-in-law of the deceased, said that someone called Salam on the phone around 9 o'clock on Tuesday night.

After some time, they beat and hacked Salam in Thanaghata area and escaped. When Salam sought help in a nearby house while seriously injured, they rescued him and first took him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. After that, due to the deterioration of his condition, the doctor on duty referred him to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

On the way there, he died at a place called Chuknagar around 11 pm. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar police station Mohidul Islam said that preparations are underway to file a case in this regard. The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
