World Vision Bangladesh, through its Nandail Area Development Programme (ADP), distributed more than 700 fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal tree saplings as part of its ongoing greening initiative.
The organization has set a target of distributing 22,000 saplings in phases across the area.
The sapling distribution ceremony was held on Monday morning at the Nandail ADP office, where tree saplings were handed over to children. The event was chaired by Sagar John Costa, an official of World Vision.
The chief guest at the program was Naima Sultana, Agriculture Officer of Nandail Upazila. Journalists working in various media outlets also attended the event.
During the discussion, speakers emphasized the importance of planting more trees to maintain environmental balance, mitigate the impacts of climate change, and promote afforestation. They highlighted the vital role of community participation, particularly among children, in ensuring a greener and more sustainable future.
Speaking at the event, Sagar John Costa said that World Vision is actively implementing afforestation activities in Nandail Upazila as part of its nationwide tree-planting campaign. He noted that the organization aims to distribute 22,000 saplings in the area and urged children and their guardians to take proper care of the saplings so they can grow into healthy trees.
The initiative reflects World Vision’s commitment to environmental conservation and climate resilience through community-based green development programs.
