World Press Freedom Day observed in Kurigram

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day 2026, a discussion meeting was held in the afternoon at the hallroom of Kurigram Press Club on Sunday.
The event was presided over by Shafi Khan, President of Kurigram Press Club.
Among the distinguished guests present were Additional Deputy Commissioner B.M. Kudrat-e Khuda, Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Rana, Senior Joint Convener of Kurigram District BNP Prof Shafiqul Islam Bebu, Public Prosecutor of Kurigram District Bar Association Bazlul Rashid, President Fakhrul Islam, former President of Kurigram Press Club Adv Ahsan Habib Nilu, General Secretary Ataur Rahman Biplob, along with journalists from various print and electronic media.
The discussion session was moderated by Mahfuzar Rahman, General Secretary of Kurigram Press Club.
During the event, Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Rana stated that journalists in Kurigram have drawn attention by highlighting issues of justice and injustice, social problems, and development in the region.
Additional Deputy Commissioner B.M. Kudrat-e Khuda mentioned that journalists often face harassment while publishing news and encounter obstacles in expressing their opinions. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that media professionals can freely express their views in the present era.
