World Earth Day: Every one of us must participate in protecting the balance of environment and nature

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

World Women's Day 2024 The sole aim of the day is to sustain Earth by protecting the environment and nature.

The day is being celebrated in 193 countries of the world on April 22 every year to increase people's awareness about the environment. The main aim of this day is to sustain the earth by protecting the environment and nature. This day of the year is specifically dedicated to protecting the Earth and keeping it habitableAnd the word Dharitri comes from dharani or catch. Which means the world. World Earth Day is a day that is unanimously recognized to save the earth from destruction.

History of Women's Day

This day was celebrated for the first time on 22 April 1970. At the UNESCO conference in San Francisco in 1969, peace activist John McConnell proposed dedicating a day in honor of Mother Earth. However, this day was celebrated on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

Later, United States Senator Gaylord Nelson introduced Earth Day on April 22, 1970. First Dharitri Day was organized on this day with the help of some students. About 2 crore people celebrated the day. Many people in America took to the streets on this day to raise awareness about climate change. The day started from that. Since 1970, various laws have been established in different countries keeping in mind the protection of the environment. Yet today the world is facing a crisis.

> Reasons to celebrate Mother's Day

This day is observed to raise awareness among the people of the world about climate change. The world is now plagued by natural disasters due to climate change. Therefore, this day is celebrated in different countries to raise public awareness about nature and environment, to keep the earth safe and livable, and to give a message to the public about the importance of environment and climate in protecting the earth from destruction.

Global temperature is increasing as a result of global climate change and environmental degradation. Various natural disasters are hitting. Common people are facing natural disasters and other environmental problems every year.

Since the middle of April of this year, intense fire has been going on across the country. People's life is gasping for such intense pressure. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that this heat flow may continue and increase further. Warnings state that excess water vapor may increase discomfort.

The maximum temperature was recorded at Jessore at 42.6 degrees, the highest temperature in the country. The western district of Chuadanga recorded a temperature of over 42.3 degrees Celsius. In Chuadanga and Meherpur regions, the temperature is between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius. Since there is no difference between day and night temperature, the life of the people in this region has become very miserable.

Moderate to severe heat wave is flowing across the country including the capital Dhaka. People of different ages including children and old people are getting sick in this extreme heat. Anyone can suffer from heatstroke from simple dehydration, indigestion, if not careful.

Bangladesh is now experiencing regular intense heat waves, which are adversely affecting the social, economic and environmental aspects of the country. Extreme heat makes it difficult to regulate body temperature. This can lead to dehydration, heat stroke, kidney failure, heart disease, and even death. The government has decided to close all the educational institutions of the country for another 7 days to protect the health of the students during the severe heat wave. In this, primary, secondary schools and public and private colleges, madrassas, technical institutions are closed till April 27So if we want to keep the earth habitable for humans, we need to plant a lot of trees.

Gotta love the trees. There is no alternative. Planting trees will not do. Trees must be saved. If we all plant at least two trees in the coming monsoon, in the next 10 years, instead of increasing, the temperature will come down to a tolerable level. And storms, floods, tides will also decrease. Our life will be normal. Planting of more trees should be made mandatory by the government and it is very important to ban the cutting of large trees without the permission of the government. Climate change has now become a major issue for the entire mankind. And our habitable earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. In this long cycle of Dharitri, as Dharitri has been well formed, it has contained various natural elements including life and non-life.

Where human beings arrived much later. Dharitri is bound by her own rules. If there is an exception to this rule, disaster occurs. This chain of Dharitri binds each of its elements to a single rule. So when this chain of dhritri is disturbed in any way, its effect is on every element of nature. We humans are an important part of nature. We take the opportunity to use the environment as our own to facilitate intellectual development. But our domineering attitude towards the environment, use of natural elements to our own advantage, harming the balance of nature while leading a better life - these are the reasons for today's disaster of earth.

Humans have been consuming everything in nature unilaterally since the beginning of creation, due to which we have forgotten to define the boundaries of our needs. We are engaged in various destructive activities including deforestation, destruction of forests, growth of factories, release of greenhouse gases and other harmful gases, use of harmful chemicals, as a necessary result of which soil, water, air pollution, earthRising temperature, melting of polar ice, attack of many other incurable diseases like corona on human body. All these points to the actions of our human society. So we cannot in any way avoid our responsibility by limiting ourselves to observing the day.

Until 1800, there was not much thought among people about the land and land crisis, but the adverse behavior of the earth made people think about the earth in a new way, as a result of which we see various movements to protect the environment. Some of these movements include the 'Deep Ecology' movement led by Norwegian philosophers Arn Nyes and George Sessions in the seventies, the 'Save Sewers' movement led by Medha Patekar in neighboring India, the 'Save the Forest' movement, the 'Silent Valley' movement led by ornithologist Salim Ali, etc. RecentlyThe 'Fridays for Future' movement of 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg to save the world from environmental pollution is notable. These are just small efforts to save the land.

Apart from these isolated movements, various initiatives have been taken internationally to save Earth, but each of us as individual beings has some sense of moral duty. From this place, the question remains about who we are fulfilling the responsibility.

We humans are an individual element like other elements of nature. Therefore, we as human beings should not indiscriminately use other elements of nature, such as: other animals, trees, rivers, mountains to small grains of sand for living a luxurious life beyond our own limited needs.

Finally, we should respect every element of nature. Since we depend on other elements of the environment for our survival, protecting nature is proportional to protecting our own life. And nature or this land has a definite balance. When the people of the world destroy that balance through oppression in various ways, Dharitri acts against it and tells everyone that you are human. But we still don't shy away from that harsh behavior.

It was through the Industrial Revolution that humans first discovered the techniques to destroy this planet. Urbanization practices over the ages have been one of the most destructive programs to destroy this nature. The same goes for building industries by clearing forests. As a result, a pressure is created on the land. These epidemics are caused due to the destruction of the natural diversity of nature. Even then there was no response from the people to take care of this woman. This is the biggest tragedy of the 21st century.

So we should be more aware. It is our responsibility to leave a disaster free world at least for future generations. From that place of responsibility let the pledge of today's Mother's Day be to overcome the crisis of human existence by saving nature.
