Technical analysis has revealed that consuming unsafe food is the cause of 33 percent of diseases in the human body. In addition, speakers at the workshop titled 'Role of Media in Ensuring Safe Food' said that it is possible to keep the body completely healthy and disease-free by eating germ-free and controlled food.

This information was revealed at a workshop titled 'Role of Media in Ensuring Safe Food' held at the National Media Institute in Darus Salaam in Mirpur in the city on Monday.

A total of 25 people, including representatives of various media outlets in the country, students of the journalism department, officials of the Food Directorate and the National Media Institute, participated in the workshop.

The workshop discussed adulteration, contaminants or polluting microbes, fertilizers, pesticides or heavy metals, processing aids, food additives or preservatives, mycotoxins, antibiotics and other health risks in the specified food products.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Director of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, under the chairmanship of Md. Kausar Ahmed, Director General of the National Media Institute (NIMCO) and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He discussed the response to consuming adulterated and contaminated food through technical analysis.

He also called on the media workers to ensure safe food and highlight the necessary steps to the countrymen.

Project Director Dr. Md. Maruf Nawaz, in his speech, highlighted the crisis at three levels in ensuring safe food. He said, currently we are being affected by various types of incurable diseases. One of the reasons for these is adulterated food and unsafe eating habits. As a result, we have to bring changes in our eating habits. And we have to overcome these by creating widespread awareness. Journalists have a big role to play in this regard. Investigative journalism can be done on these.
