
Women's football team, 14 citizens to receive Ekushey Padak-2025

The government has announced the names of 14 eminent citizens and the Bangladesh Women's National Football Team to receive the prestigious Ekushey Padak 2025, the country's second-highest civilian award, in recognition of their contributions to different fields.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki announced the names of the recipients at a press conference at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The women's football team has been selected for this year’s Ekushey Padak for their contribution to the country’s sports sector.
In the field of arts and culture, the awardees include Azizur Rahman (posthumously) for film, Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumously) for music, Ferdous Ara for music, Nasir Ali Mamun for photography, and Rokeya Sultana for painting.
In journalism, Mahfuz Ullah (posthumously) and Mahmudur Rahman will receive the Ekushey Padak for journalism and human rights.
In the fields of culture and education, Dr Shahidul Alam has been named as an awardee, while Dr Niaz Zaman has been recognised for education. Mehedi Hasan Khan will receive the award for science and technology, and Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumously) for social service.
For their contribution to language and literature, Helal Hafiz (posthumously) and Shahidul Jahir (Md Shahidul Haque) (posthumously) have been selected.
Meanwhile, Moidul Hasan will receive the Ekushey Padak for research.
