Woman dies over land dispute in Bauphal

Setara Begum (60) died after being attacked by her opponents over a long-standing land dispute in Jhilna village of Kanakdia union in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali. It is learned that Setara Begum's husband Hanif Hawladar had been in a dispute over her land since her death. Setara Begum was staying at her house around 10:30 am on Thursday.
At that time, the opponents Nasir Mollah, Bashir Mollah and a few others suddenly attacked her. Hearing her screams, the locals took her to Bauphal Sadar Hospital in an injured condition. Seeing her condition deteriorating, the on-duty doctor sent her to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
After receiving primary treatment there, Setara Begum was sent to Dhaka on the advice of the Medical Board. Setara Begum, who was injured, died around 2 pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The deceased's sons, Hasan Insan and Kausar Howlader, complained, saying that our mother was killed in a planned manner. On this issue, Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akhtaruzzaman Sarkar said, "We have learned the details of the incident. Necessary legal action will be taken if we receive a complaint."
