In a bid to bolster the agricultural sector's adaptation to the fourth industrial revolution, Bangladesh Agricultural University's (BAU) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, emphasized the pivotal role of integrating smart farming practices into veterinary education.

Speaking at the inauguration of the two days long 30th Annual Scientific Conference organized by Bangladesh Society for Veterinary Education and Research (BSVER) held at the Shilpachariya Zainul Abedin Auditorium in BAU on Saturday (24 February), BAU VC underlined the necessity of nurturing both smart graduates and smart farmers. He stressed that without the active involvement of farmers in embracing technological advancements, the overarching goals of the fourth industrial revolution would remain unattainable.

Highlighting the interconnectedness of environmental conservation, animal health, and human well-being, BAU VC emphasized the principle of One Health, asserting that the environment plays a paramount role in this symbiotic relationship. He underlined the crucial link between animal health and environmental preservation, noting that neglecting one jeopardizes the other.

The event was chaired by President of BSVER Professor Dr Farida Yeasmin Bari and attended by Bangladesh Accreditation Council Member Professor Dr Md Golam Shahi Alam as the chief guest. BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Emdadul Haque Chowdhury was present as chief patron, alongside other dignitaries including Md. Abdul Awal, Dean, Faculty of veterinary science of BAU and AKM Khasruzzaman, Managing Director of Inter Agro Vet BD Ltd, were present on the occasion.

The conference served as a platform to underscore the critical need for aligning veterinary education with the evolving landscape of agricultural practices, emphasizing the imperative of cultivating smart farmers alongside smart graduates to propel Bangladesh towards agricultural sustainability in the era of technological advancement.
