Week-long Sports Fair inaugurated in Bandarban with boat race

A week-long sports fair has begun in Bandarban.
The week-long sports fair began with a colorful boat race at the Sangu River ghat in Ujanipara of the city on Saturday morning.
Bandarban Zilla Parishad Chairman Thanjama Lusai inaugurated the Sports Fair as Chief Guest by releasing a balloon.
Sources said that the Sammilit Krira Parishad organized this fair to preserve the extinct rural sports of the hills and to revitalize the sports arena. This week-long sports fair will feature football, handball, volleyball, cricket, the traditional game of sacrifice in rural Bengal, and traditional bamboo climbing in the mountains. On the opening day, a total of 19 teams, both men and women, participated in the boat race competition. In the men's category, Kalaghata Durga Temple won the championship, Kalaghata Hari Temple won the second place, and Marma Bazar team won the third place.
In the women's category, Marma Bazar team won the championship, Sampriti's Bandarban team won the second place, and Nari Unnayan Dal won the third place.
The banks of the Sangu River became joyful due to the boat race competition. Men and women from far and wide rushed to the river to watch the boat race.
At that time, Army Headquarters Zone Commander Lt. Col. Mahmudul Hasan, Police Superintendent Md. Shahidullah Kawsar, Bandarban Zilla Parishad members and sports loving people were present.
