Journalist friends are the mirror of society. We will remain united for the overall development of Bagerhat above party affiliations, regardless of party affiliation, religion, caste, it will be everyone's responsibility to come forward to work for the development of Bagerhat from their respective positions.
Sheikh Manjurul Haque Rahad, Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-2 parliamentary constituency, said that he will work with journalists against drugs, corruption, terrorism, extortionists, encroachers of enclosures and canals. And in this regard, he will leave for Dhaka tomorrow to join the first session of parliament, seeking the prayers and cooperation of the journalists working in Bagerhat, the mirror of society, his place of trust.
He said these tat a post-election view exchange meeting with journalists working in Bagerhat on Tuesday afternon.
The meeting was held at the Press Club auditorium under the chairmanship of Bagerhat Press Club President Abu Sayeed Shunu and moderated by Deputy General Secretary Yamin Ali. Among others, the press club's general secretary Hedayet Hossain Liton, vice-president SM Raj, Bagerhat Television Journalists Association president Md. Kamruzzaman, general secretary Molla Masudul Haque, former press club president Babul Sardar, former general secretary Ali Akbar Tutul, current executive committee treasurer SM Amirul Haque Babu, sports editor Ariful Islam, executive member Sohel Rana Babu, Molla A. Rab, Syed Shawkat Hossain, and other members of the club, as well as journalists working in print and electronic media in Bagerhat, were present at the meeting.
In the open discussion at the meeting, the media workers called on the parliamentarians to take a strict role in the main problems of Bagerhat, especially drugs, terrorists, extortion, occupation of government canals, extraction of salt water by forcibly occupying the perimeter, construction of facilities by occupying the city protection dam and river pollution, stopping water pollution of the traditional pond adjacent to the Mazar Sharif of Khan Jahan Ali (RA) by selling fishing tickets with a fishing rod, and holding the responsible officials and contracting organizations of the concerned departments accountable for hindering sustainable development by using low-quality materials in development work.
The media workers expressed their determination to work together for the welfare of the general public of Bagerhat in these works.
