Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Md. Moinul Islam NDC said, if anyone takes the law in the name of mob justice, strict action will be taken.

The IGP said this while interacting with reporters in the Conference Room of the CMP Commissioner's office after an exchange meeting with the senior police officers of the Chittagong Division at the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) conference room in Chittagong Dampara on Saturday afternoon.

RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz and Chittagong Range DIG Md Ahsan Habib Palash were present.

The IGP said that the militants who are on bail will be under surveillance. Strict action will be taken if they indulge in militancy again.

Regarding the ongoing joint operation, the IGP said that 238 weapons have been recovered so far. 75 percent of the weapons looted by the police have been recovered. He said that arms users wherever they are will be brought under strict laws.

He said that the upcoming Durga Puja will be celebrated through the festival. All security will be ensured during Durga Puja. Everyone should be careful to avoid any incident that destroys communal harmony. All inactivity should be stopped.

The police chief said, we want to restore public confidence through police activities. We truly want to be people's friends.

In response to a question from the journalists, the IGP said that the accused in the case will not be arrested. Arrests will be made only if the investigation finds involvement. No innocent person will be arrested.

Earlier, the IGP spoke as the chief guest in a special welfare meeting organized by CMP and Chittagong range jointly with senior officers of all police units and policemen of all levels of Chittagong range at Chittagong District Police Lines this afternoon.

Chittagong Range DIG Md. Ahsan Habib Palash chaired the special welfare meeting along with CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz and all levels of officers and forces of Chittagong Division were present.
