On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha (Qurbani Eid), VGF rice has been distributed among 132,034 ultra-poor, impoverished, and helpless families in Lalmonirhat.

According to the Lalmonirhat District Relief Office, each of the ultra-poor, impoverished, and helpless families in the district will receive 10 kg of rice, and the distribution program will be completed by June 3. This time, the rice is being distributed in the 5 upazilas and 2 municipalities of Lalmonirhat district. A total of 1320.340 metric tons in the 5 upazilas and 92.420 metric tons in the 2 municipalities of VGF allocated rice has already begun to be distributed. The distribution will be completed by June 3.

Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner H. M. Rakib Hayder stated that on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the rice has been distributed among the ultra-poor, impoverished, and helpless families of the district.

There are allegations that in each union of the district, certain leaders of a political party have taken 100 VGF rice seals from each ward through the respective union parishad (UP) members. Local people of Gokunda Union in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, requesting anonymity, reported that one leader of the union took 100 seals from each of the 9 wards through the UP members. The concerned UP members were unwilling to comment on this matter, but they expressed dissatisfaction.

It has been mentioned that the rice corresponding to those seals has already been collected. Through a syndicate, the government sacks were replaced and the rice was sold. It is noteworthy that recently, 30 kg of rice was distributed to each family affected by a storm.
