Veteran journalist of Jashore and freedom fighter Rukunuddaulah is no more.
On Friday at around 7:30 pm, when he was brought to Jashore General Hospital, a doctor declared him dead (Inna----Rajiun). He was working as a special correspondent of Dainik Sangbad until the moment of his death. The death of veteran journalist, writer and poet Rukunuddaulah has cast a shadow of mourning in various quarters. He was the father of a daughter in his married life.
Veteran journalist and freedom fighter Rukunuddaulah had been suffering from heart disease for a long time. His walking and movement were not normal. He was going through life by taking regular medicine. However, his writing did not stop. Most of the time, he used to collect news and write analytical news, features and columns by riding a rickshaw or someone else's motorcycle.
Recently, he was admitted to the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka on July 27 after falling seriously ill. At the hospital, he was under close observation under the supervision of renowned physician Prof MA Rashid. After installing 3 rings in his heart, he returned to Jessore on Thursday.
Rukunuddaulah's father is the late Moksed Ali. Rukunuddaulah spent her childhood and adolescence in Naogaon.
His regular column 'Gram-Gramantar' in 'Sambad' was quite popular. He has worked on Channel I, Radio Today. He has served as news editor in Daily Sfulinga, Daily Thikana, Daily Runner, Daily Kalyan published from Jashore. He is the publisher and editor of the fortnightly Jashorer Kagoj published from Jashore.
In recognition of his success in this profession, he has received the IDE Award, Jashore Shilpi Gosthi Padak, Gyan Mela Padak and received the Bazlur Rahman Smriti Padak from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Books titled 'Gram-Gramantar' from Shravan Publishing, 'Muktijudde Jashore' from Nabajug Publishing, 'Amar Kaishore Amar Muktijudde' from Nabarag Publishing, 'Manusher Bhabna Manusher Katha' and 'Chot Chot Kotha Achena Manush' have been published.
