The verdict in the rape case filed against Khilafat Majlis Secretary General Maulana Mamunul Haque in Narayanganj's Sonargaon has been postponed.

The next date of verdict announcement has been fixed on October 24.

Due to Narayanganj Women and Children Repression Tribunal judge's vacation and the defendant's time application, the verdict date has been delayed.

Earlier, on October 3, Narayanganj Women and Children Repression Tribunal after presenting the arguments, the Senior District and Sessions Judge Jasmine Ara Begum fixed the judgment date of the case. 26 out of 40 people have testified in this case.

Advocate AKM Omar Farooq Nayan, the lawyer for the accused, said that the verdict in the rape case filed against Maulana Muhammad Mamunul Haque was supposed to be delivered on Monday as per the scheduled date of the case. But the judge is on vacation. Along with that we applied time. The court allowed our time application and fixed the next date on October 24.

He also said that the arguments of the case filed against Mamunul Haque in the Narayanganj Women and Children Suppression Tribunal Court have been completed on October 3. We told the court that day that the whole matter was organized in collusion. The plaintiff in the case refused to undergo physical examination as she admitted that Mamunul Haque is her legal husband. At the same time the plaintiff's son Abdur Rahman came to testify and said that his mother was married to Mamunul Haque. A case was filed against them by force.

Acting public prosecutor advocate of the court. Romel Molla said, witnesses against Maulana Muhammad Mamunul Haque are over. With that, the argument is over. The court fixed a new date for the verdict.

It should be noted that on April 3, 2021, Mamunul Haque was staying with a woman at Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. At that time the local Awami League leaders and activists came and surrounded him. Later the activists and supporters of the local Hefazat came and ransacked the resort and abducted him. Mamunul Haque was staying at Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasah in Mohammadpur since the incident. At that time, the police kept him under surveillance.

Then on April 18, 2021, Mamunul was arrested from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Mohammadpur. Later, the woman filed a rape case against Mamunul Haque at Sonargaon police station on April 30 in this incident. However, Mamunul Haque is claiming that woman as his second wife.

Meanwhile, on April 4 of this year, Narayanganj Women and Children Torture Suppression Tribunal applied for bail, then Judge Nazmul Haque Shyamal's court granted her bail. Since then he is on bail in this rape case of Sonargaon police station.
