A member of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) reportedly shot to death by the rivals at Fatikchhari upazila in Khagrachhari district on Friday midnight.

At that time, the victim's mother also sustained bullet injuries in the firing.

The incident took place at the midnight of Saturday night at Chaillacchar area in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Redasha Marma, 25, son of Nedakka Marma, a resident of the aforesaid area. It was known that Redasha was an active member of UPDF-Praseet group.

Confirming the matter, Manikchari Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Iqbal Uddin said they heard about the incident and concerned police station will take action in this regard.

However, the injured woman was brought to Manikchari Upazila Health Complex from there she was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, he said.

Fatikchari Police Station officer-in-charge Nurul Kabir also confirmed the incident and said, "We have recovered the body and autopsy is being underway."

UPDF Praseet Group's Khagrachari district organizer Angya Marma blamed the terrorists of the UPDF-Democratic Party for the incident.Confirming the matter, Manikchari Police Station officer-in-charge Md.
