Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haq, Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, gave this information on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, intelligence sources learned that St. Martin Union Parishad Chairman and Union Awami League President Mujibur Rahman (53), a resident of the Paschim Para area of Ward No. 5 of St. Martin Island under Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar, had stored a large amount of narcotics (Yaba) in his own house for the purpose of smuggling. Based on the information received, a special operation was conducted by the Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone on St. Martin Island at 3:50 am on Saturday.

During the operation, the drug dealer tried to escape through the back door of the house after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, and the Coast Guard arrested him. Later, the Coast Guard searched the house and seized 12,274 (twelve thousand two hundred and four) pieces of Yaba wrapped in a specially hidden bag.

The arrested accused and Yaba to Teknaf Police Station have been handed over to police. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect the young generation from the terrible clutches of drugs.
