The upazila administration distributed donation checks for the reconstruction of the houses of two families that were burnt down in a fire in Dohar.

On Thursday at 11 am, UNO Md. Maidul Islam and Dhaka District BNP Women's Party President Shamima Rahim Sheela separately handed over donation checks as financial assistance to the affected families on behalf of the Doha Upazila Parishad.

The donation check was received by Surbana Begum (45), wife of Mohammad Liton of Narisha Union of the upazila, and Sahida Begum (40), daughter of the late Ali Sikdar of Jhanki village of the same union.

It is learnt that separate incidents occurred in Narisha and Jhanki villages of Narisha Union.
On the night of March 25 and May 17, a fire broke out in the house due to an electrical shock.
As a result, everything in the house, including cash, furniture, rice and rice, of the two families was burnt to ashes. Upon learning of the incident, the Upazila Administration, led by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Maidul Islam, handed over a check of Tk 20,000 from the Upazila Parishad Assistance Fund to the two families affected by the fire.

Shamima Rahim Sheela, president of Dhaka District BNP Mahila Dal , was present at the time.

At this time, he also handed over a check for a donation of Tk 20,000 from the Zilla Parishad fund.
Members of various print and electronic media were present at the event.

Dohar UNO Md. Maidul Islam said, "We have learned that the houses and belongings of two families were burnt in the fire. In the initial stage of the incident, cash checks were given from the Upazila Parishad fund and the families affected by the fire were assured of assistance in providing corrugated iron sheets for the construction of houses."

Dhaka District BNP Women's Party President Shamima Rahim Sheela said that cash payment checks have been distributed from the Dhaka District Council fund so that the affected families can get financial assistance to rebuild their houses.

Sahida Akhtar of Jhanki village in Narisha union and Surbana Begum of Narisha village said they were happy to receive the donation check.
