A mentally unstable woman lost her life after being struck by an unidentified speeding vehicle on the Cumilla-Sylhet regional highway in Muradnagar Upazila under Cumilla district. The fatal hit-and-run accident occurred at approximately 3:30 AM on Friday in front of Badiul Alam Miah's pond, adjacent to the Gausia Super Market in the Gokulnagar area of the upazila.

According to police sources, the victim, an unidentified mentally unstable female pedestrian aged around 55, was attempting to cross the highway when a recklessly driven, speeding vehicle knocked her down. The impact of the crash killed the woman on the spot. Immediately after the collision, the driver sped away from the scene with the vehicle.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Mirpur Highway Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and initiated administrative protocols to establish the deceased woman's identity. However, the official identity and address of the victim remain unknown so far.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Muradnagar Police Station stated that law enforcement officials are working relentlessly to identify the deceased woman. The preparation of the inquest report and other mandatory legal procedures are currently underway. Concurrently, a comprehensive investigation is active to track down the hit-and-run vehicle using local intelligence and surveillance records. Police added that further statutory legal actions are being processed in accordance with the law, while vehicular movement on the Comilla-Sylhet regional highway remains completely disciplined and normal following the brief disruption.
