Md. Masum, Tongibari (Munshiganj) 

A 3-month-old unborn child has died after taking the medicine due to a mistake by a drug seller in Tongibari, Munshiganj. 

 The unborn child died on Tuesday after taking the medicine. After the death, the father of the unborn child, Md. Iqbal, accused the pharmacy vendor of giving the wrong medicine.

It is learnt that the pregnant woman went to the Padma Diagnostic Center in Dighirpar Bazar for treatment. There, she sought treatment from a doctor named Sazia Afrin. The patient bought the medicine from Rahmania Azad Pharmacy in the same bazar with the prescription. But the shop owner, Delwar Hossain, sold the medicine through an under-metric person named Pratna, an inexperienced person in the pharmacy. Pratna, unable to understand the prescription, gave her a fabricated medicine for miscarriage. As a result, the patient's unborn child died after taking that medicine. 

In this regard, the pregnant woman's husband Md. Iqbal said, "My wife is 3 months pregnant. I see the doctor for regular checkups. When I went to buy medicine at Delwar's doctor's shop with the doctor's prescription, they gave me medicine to prevent miscarriage. My wife took that medicine and the baby in the womb was lost.

Drug seller Prant said, "I gave the medicine without understanding the prescription. Maybe it happened by mistake."

Delwar Hossain, owner of Rahmania Azad Pharmacy, said, "The staff of my shop gave the medicine. They did it without understanding. We have settled the matter with those with whom we had a problem."

Munshiganj District Medicine Supervisor Md. Golam Mostafa said, "Necessary action will be taken after investigating the matter."
