UN Resident Coordinator meets with State Minister for Disaster Management Mohib

Gwynne Lewis, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, had a courtesy call on Minister of State for Disaster Management and Relief Mohibbur Rahman on Sunday.
After the meeting, the state minister said that the related organizations of the United Nations will work together with the government to improve the living standards of the Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh after being forcibly displaced from Myanmar, as well as the local communities around the shelters.
The meeting was held with the state minister on Sunday in the office room of his Secretariat.
The state minister said that the government is maintaining continuous communication with the United Nations and other international organizations to increase the monthly allocation for each Rohingya.
During the meeting, Gwynne Lewis said that joint activities will be undertaken to increase the capacity of this country in overall management including the reduction of earthquake risk and damage and rescue in Bangladesh.
The United Nations resident coordinator said that besides providing strategic support in Bangladesh's disaster management, various activities are being undertaken to increase the involvement of local stakeholders with international organizations.
