Two students get DU Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship

Two meritorious students of the Department of Economics have been awarded ‘Dhaka University (DU) Economics 1976 Memorial Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic performances.
The recipients of the scholarship are : Md. Abu Sayem Pappu and Nur-E-Jannat. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman handed over this scholarship to the recipients as chief guest at a function held today May 15, 2023 at VC’s Lounge of the university.
It may be mentioned that students of batch 1976 of DU Economics Department had donated money to establish this Trust Fund for providing scholarship to financially challenged first year BSS (Hons.) students of the department.
DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Zia Rahman, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, donors’ representatives- Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum, Romendro Chandra Basak, Golam Hafiz Ahmed and Ameer Abdul Wahab were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the awardees. He urged the students to equip themselves with humanitarian and moral values. He said, meritorious students have to play an effective role to make Bangladesh a prosperous country.
The VC thanked the donors for their donation. He urged other alumni of the university to come forward with their helping hands for financially challenged students following the example of batch 1976 of DU Economics Department.
