Two sentenced to jail for drug use in Tungipara

Two individuals have been sentenced by a mobile court for drug use during an anti-narcotics drive in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj district.
The verdict was delivered on Thursday at around 3:00 PM by UNO and Executive Magistrate Jahirul Alam.
According to local sources, Haidar Sheikh (40), son of Sabed Ali Sheikh, and Ferdous Sardar (22), son of Tulu Sardar—both residents of Shriramkandi village—were detained while consuming drugs at around 9:30 AM from the Patgati auto stand area.
A team from Tungipara Police Station, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hafiz, conducted the অভিযান and arrested them. Later, they were presented before the mobile court in the afternoon, where the charges were proven. Each was sentenced to 7 days of simple imprisonment and fined BDT 100.
Police confirmed that the convicts have been sent to jail following the verdict.
The administration stated that anti-drug drives will continue and will be further intensified to ensure a drug-free society.
