Two more dengue patients die in 24hours

Two more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 572 this year.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the most recent fatalities have been reported in the Dhaka division, including one in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
During the same period, 148 additional patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, the DGHS added.
Of them, 18 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation region, while 25 others were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation areas.
Currently, 683 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.
Since 1 January 2024, a total of 1,01,016 dengue cases have been reported.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), there were 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
