Two killed, 3 injured in road accident at Asasuni

Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a pickup and an easybike in Nawapara area of Asasuni upazila of Satkhira. Three people were injured.
The accident took place at Nawapara Tentultala Eidgah Mor on Satkhira-Asasuni road around 7:30 am on Friday. The injured have been admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
The deceased are Fajila Khatun (60), wife of deceased Arshad Sardar of Ghazalia area of Paikgacha upazila of Khulna and Achia Khatun (45), wife of Kashem Gazi of Lakshmikhola village of the same upazila. They both set out to perform Umrah.
Biswajit Adhikari, officer-in-charge of Asasuni police station, said that Mizanur Rahman, Reshma Khatun, Achia Khatun, Humayun Kabir and Fazila Khatun from Ghazalia area of Paikgacha upazila were coming to Satkhira on an easy bike.
They were supposed to go to Dhaka from Satkhira. When the easybike carrying them reached the Nawapara Eidgah intersection, it collided head-on with a pickup carrying fish coming from Satkhira direction. Fazila Khatun was killed on the spot.
Achia Khatun died on the way to Satkhira Medical with serious injuries. The pickup involved in the accident has been impounded. He said that legal action will be taken in this regard.
