Two brothers die after drowning in Araihazar

Two brothers died while bathing in a pond in Araihazar on Thursday afternoon in Kalagachhia Madhyapara village of Haijadi union of the upazila.
The deceased were Akibul (11), son of businessman Abu Siddique of Kanchan area of Rupganj, and his younger brother Safwan (7). Akibul was a student of a local Hefz Madrasa and Safwan was a class 1 student of a local primary school.
According to hospital and police sources, the two children had come to visit their grandparents' house on the occasion of Eid. At the time of the incident, around 12 noon, the two brothers went to bathe in their grandparents' pond together.
At this time, one brother fell into the water and the other brother went to pick him up. As a result, the two brothers drowned together. Upon receiving the news, relatives rescued them and took them to the Araihazar Upazila Health Center, where the doctor declared them dead.
The doctor at the hospital's emergency department confirmed the incident and said that they died before being brought to the hospital.
Araihazar Police Station OC Sabzel Hossain said that since the family had no complaints, the bodies were handed over to the family members.
