Tushar Kanti Hari's press conference seeking safety of him, his family members in Tala

Tushar Kanti Hari (89), a resident of Islamkati village in Tala upazila, has accused Pijush Kanti Hari of the same village of brutally attacking, beating and threatening to kill him and his family.
He made this allegation at a press conference at the Tala upazila press club on Friday.
Tushar Kanti Hari said in a written statement that on May 25, 2025, around 6 pm, Pijush Kanti Hari entered his house with hired thugs and attacked him indiscriminately. In the attack, A. Rouf of Sarulia village under Patkelghata police station hit him in the face. When he tried to protect him, his wife Geeta Rani and Sejo Bhai's wife Basanti were also beaten up. He said that the attackers at that time included Shamsur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman (Minu), Jamal Sheikh and 10-12 other unidentified people from Islamkati village.
Tushar Kanti alleged at the press conference that during the attack, the terrorists threatened to kill them and send them to India. When the neighbors rushed to the spot, the attackers fled. He cited a long-standing dispute over land ownership as the reason for the previous dispute.
He also said that a general diary (GD No. 1176, dated 26/05/2025) has been filed with Tala Police Station in this incident. Tushar Kanti alleged that when local journalists published the news after the incident, the accused also threatened the journalists.
He said , "I and my nephew's family are not involved in any political party. However, influential people like Piyush have been torturing us even during the past and current Awami League governments." He claimed that in 2008, Piyush occupied his elder brother's house and framed him in a false case based on cutting tree branches and sent him to jail.
Tushar Kanti Hari urged the law enforcement agencies and the administration to ensure the safety of him and his family members.
