Dhaka University authorities have postponed the fourth-year honours examinations of the seven colleges which were scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
The decision comes after clashes broke out among the students of several educational institutions in the span of two days over the death of a student from Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College.
According to a notification issued by the university’s examination controller’s office on Monday, Tuesday’s exam for the seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University has been postponed citing “unavoidable reasons”.
The notification also states that a new exam schedule will be announced “shortly” and the timetable for other examinations will remain unchanged.
The fourth-year honours exams of the seven colleges began last week.
Students of various educational institutions in Old Dhaka have engaged in clashes for the past two days over the death of a Mollah College student who passed away while undergoing treatment at Dhaka National Medical.
Meanwhile, the history exam of the students of Kabi Nazrul College, who were sitting for their first-year undergraduate exams at the Suhrawardy College centre, was suspended midway for security reasons amid the unrest.
Both Suhrawardy and Nazrul colleges are among the seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University.
