Truck collision on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway kills one

A truck driver named Hafizur Rahman (40) was killed when his vehicle was hit from behind by another truck on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway. He was the son of Abdul Majid from Bagra, Kaliganj, Satkhira.
The accident also left Abul Kalam (45), the truck’s helper and the son of Nazmul Islam from the same area, critically injured. The incident took place around 6:30 AM on Friday near Khanbari, between the Dogachhi Army Camp in Srinagar and the Khanbari weigh station toll plaza in Louhajang.
According to locals, a cargo truck was parked on the roadside due to a flat tire, and the driver and helper were fixing it. Suddenly, another truck rammed into the stationary vehicle from behind, killing the driver on the spot and seriously injuring the helper. Fire service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued them.
Srinagar Fire Service Station Officer Dewan Azad Hossain confirmed that the injured helper was sent to the hospital, while the deceased driver’s body was handed over to the highway police.
O of Hasara Highway Police Station, Abdul Kader Jilani, said, both trucks have been taken into custody, but the driver of the second truck fled the scene. Contact has been made with the victim’s family, and legal actions will be taken accordingly.
