Training on 'Good Agricultural Practices ' held for farmers, entrepreneurs in Sunamganj Sadar

A day-long training workshop for farmers, farmwomen, and entrepreneurs was held in Sunamganj Sadar Upazila to make farmers skilled in modern, safe, and sustainable agricultural practices. The workshop was organized on Tuesday at Sadar Upazila hallroom.
With support from the World Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), this training was held under the 2025-26 fiscal year program as an initiative of the ‘Program on Agriculture and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh’ (PARTNER) project.
The main topic of the training was *“Farmer GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) Certification.”* Detailed discussions were held at the workshop on safe food production, environmentally friendly agricultural systems, the proper and safe use of pesticides, and the certification process for agricultural products. Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Agriculture Officer of Sunamganj Sadar Upazila, was present as the chief speaker.
At the training program, training was provided to farmers and farmwomen by Upazila Plant Protection Officer Nurul Amin, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer of Sadar Upazila Aliraj, and Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer of Sadar Upazila Imran Hossain.
Farmers, farmwomen, and entrepreneurs from various unions of Sunamganj Sadar Upazila participated in the training. They gained practical knowledge about the importance of GAP certification, increasing the market acceptability of agricultural products, and the potential to increase farmers’ income by gaining consumer trust.
