An initiative has been taken to implement a project worth about Tk 815 crore to develop rural road communication and infrastructure in Habiganj. Under the project, new roads and bridges will be constructed in different areas of the district, as well as rehabilitation of existing roads, said Commerce , Industry, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.

The minister made this information while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized at the Habiganj Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Wednesday  to coordinate law and order , development and public welfare activities in the district.

He  said , "There are plans to work on a large scale to develop the communication infrastructure of Habiganj. As part of this, a project worth about 815 crore taka has been taken. If the project is implemented properly, it will have a positive impact on the development of the rural communication system of the district as well as local economic activities."

The minister emphasized the need for coordination between members of parliament , local public representatives and relevant government departments in implementing the district's development plan . He said that in addition to adopting development projects , it is also important to ensure their proper and timely implementation. For this, the relevant ministries , government departments and public representatives will have to work in a coordinated manner.

The meeting also discussed the law and order situation in the district. Referring to the government's strict stance against online gambling and drugs, the Commerce Minister said that in addition to the administration and law enforcement agencies, local social organizations and clubs must also play an active role in preventing these social problems. He called on local organizations to create awareness against online gambling and drugs in their respective areas and cooperate with the administration by providing necessary information.

The minister directed to strengthen the overall security arrangements in the district in view of the upcoming Durga Puja. Emphasizing the need to maintain regular communication and coordination between the administration and the police with the leaders of the puja celebration committee , he said that if any problem or complaint arises during the puja celebration, initiatives should be taken to resolve it quickly.

In the same meeting, he called on the officials of the concerned departments to identify the existing problems in the healthcare system in Habiganj and take necessary measures.

Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Dr. G. M. Sarfaraz presided over the meeting, while Habiganj-2 MP Abu Mansur Sakhawat Hossain Jibon , Habiganj-4 MP SM Faisal , Reserved Women MP Md. Shammi Akhter and Habiganj Zilla Parishad Administrator Ahamad Ali Mukib were present as special guests. In addition, Police Superintendent Md. Tarek Mahmud and heads and officials of various government departments implementing law and order , development and public welfare activities in the district were present.

Earlier, he  inspected the progress of the construction of the Dhaka-Sylhet six-lane highway in Nabiganj area of Habiganj. Later, he joined the rally organized by Habiganj District BNP as the chief guest to protest against the attempts to create instability in the country.
