Tipu Munshi placed on 4-day remand in murder case

The former commerce minister Tipu Munshi has been place on a four-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Suman Sikder in Badda during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order on Thursday afternoon after the investigation officials of the case Sub-Inspector Rezaul Alam of Badda police produced Tipu before the court and pleaded to place him on eight-day remand for interrogation.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Tipu from the Gulshan-1 at around 1:10am on Thursday.
On July 17, Suman Sikder, 31, was shot to death during the student movement in front of the Pragati Sarani in Badda. Mother of the victim Mst Masuma filed a murder case against 179 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and former commerce minister Tipu Munshi, on August 20.
