Three suspected muggers beaten by mob, microbus vandalized in Srinagar

Three individuals, suspected of being muggers, were caught and beaten by locals in Srinagar.The suspects, along with their microbus, were later handed over to the police. The incident took place around 10:30 AM on Tuesday on the Solghar-Birtara road in Solghar area, where locals intercepted the microbus after a chase. The vehicle was vandalized, and the three individuals were subjected to mob beating.

The detained individuals are identified as:

Md. Jewel (40), son of Kazi Mohsin Ali from Deobhog, Mirzapur, Tangail.Bacchu (35), son of late Idris Mridha from Mridha Bari, Lohalia, Patuakhali.Hafiz (55), son of late Khalil from Charpara, Sualia, Patuakhali.According to locals, the microbus was initially spotted suspiciously on the Chaigao road. When asked to stop, the driver attempted to flee. The vehicle was finally stopped by a barricade set up by residents at Solghar. One of the victims, an auto-rickshaw driver, identified one of the suspects as a mugger, leading the mob to beat all three before handing them over to the police.Fahim, son of Md. Shahin from Thingao village, stated that one of the detainees had snatched his electric auto-rickshaw on February 8 after renting it. Upon hearing about the suspects’ capture, he arrived at the scene and recognized one of them.

Srinagar Police Station OC Shakil Ahmed confirmed the matter.
