In Rupganj of Narayanganj, it has been alleged that the supporters of the rival candidate severely beat up three Jag symbol upporters as they were campaigning for Jag Prateek candidate Rafiqul Islam.

The incident took place in Kerabo area of Kanchan municipality of the upazila around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon, Anwar Hossain, the cousin of the injured, lodged a complaint with the Rupganj police station.

Injured Anwar Hossain said that he and his two cousins Naeem and Ratan Jag are campaigning for the mayoral candidate Rafiqul Islam Rafiq in the Kanchan municipal elections on June 26.

Because of this, the supporters of rival candidate Dewan Abul Bashar Badshah got angry and threatened him several times. Last Wednesday around 11:30 pm, the 3 of them were returning home after finishing the mayoral candidate Rafiq's campaign. At that time, they reached in front of Shafiqur member's pond and supporters of rival candidate Badshah, Dewan Nabiur, Md. Awlad, Md. Al-Amin, Md. Jahangir, Md. Shahjalal, Md. Mukarm, Dewan Ripon, Md. Dewan Tarek, Dewan Iqbal, Dewan Mukbul and unknown 10/12 local people. Armed with weapons, attacked them. Meanwhile, they beat three people with an iron pipe and seriously injured them.

Later, when the local police station was informed, they went and rescued them and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex.

In this regard, the mayoral candidate of Mobile Prateek, Dewan Abul Bashar Badsha said, I have heard that there has been an incident of chase and counter-chase. However, it is not known whether the fight took place.

OC of Rupganj police station Deepak Chandra Saha said, I have received a complaint about this incident. Action will be taken as per investigation.
