Thousands of houses were damaged in Golapganj and Biyanibazar upazilas due to the terrible cyclone and hailstorm that swept over Sylhet division on march 31.

According to various sources, in addition to the damage to tin houses of both the rich and the poor, students' books, reading rooms, cattle houses were also damaged in the cyclone and hailstorm. Also, during the hailstorm, many worshipers were injured on their way out of the mosque due to the impact of rocks on their heads. Many families are spending the day under the open sky. The lower class cannot buy tin. A middle class family is buying tin by selling the wife's gold.

Ordinary people are angry because tin buns worth 4,500 taka are sold for 7,000 taka in Golapganj and Biyanibazar upazila headquarters. In these two upazilas, the houses of about 1000 families have been damaged. The tin rice of those affected by the rock burst. These tins cannot be used for any purpose. But the lower class cannot afford to buy tin and install it. No one is thinking about the happiness of next Eid-ul-Fitr. Rather, the victims are giving importance to the struggle to save their lives. The traders in these two upazilas are selling tin at an additional price instead of selling it at the price set by the government.

Hundreds of people are lining up at the shop every day to buy tins. Living in the rain in a leaky tin house hit by rocks. The rice tins of some houses were blown away. Such a terrible picture is seen in Golapganj-Bianibazar upazila. Due to this, thousands of families are suffering. Especially the lower middle class has found it difficult to recover these losses. Hundreds of people are under treatment in hospitals after being hit by hail. Such images were found in two upazilas.

Experts have said that after seeing the results of severe cyclones and hailstorms, it has become necessary to build durable houses that can withstand disaster in the country in the future. The houses of the lower and middle class families of the country are weak compared to the hailstorm that is currently sweeping over the country.

Abdul Latif Sarkar, a local environmental movement activist, said that the victims have become helpless.

They were not helped. That's why he requested the government to immediately prepare a list of the victims in these two upazilas and help them. He said that 80% of the families living in 95% of Ronikhai area No. 7 of Golapganj Upazila are poor. 80 percent of their houses have been destroyed by last day's hailstorm.

About 70 percent of the houses of the lower and middle classes of Biyanibazar upazila have leaked.
