Tension at Bangladesh-India Border over fishing in Lalmonirhat

A dispute over fishing at the Lohakuchi border area in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat, has caused tension between Bangladeshi and Indian locals. The incident began on Saturday when fishermen from both sides argued near a waterbody.
The situation quickly escalated, drawing crowds and leading to clashes. Several Bangladeshi citizens were reportedly injured.
Border forces from both countries (BGB and BSF) intervened to calm the situation. While things are currently under control, fears of renewed tension remain. Local officials and security forces are working to prevent future conflicts by fostering harmony between the two communities and increasing vigilance in the border area.
