The nameplate of the temporary campus of Habiganj Agricultural University (HAU) has been placed. The nameplate of the temporary campus was set up in Bhadoi area of Sadar upazila near Habiganj town on Sunday noon.

 Habiganj-3 MP Advocate Md. Abu Zahir and Habiganj Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Abdul Baset were present at the time.

MP Advocate Md. Abu Zahir expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for setting up an agricultural university in Habiganj.

Sylhet Agricultural University’s Plant Pathology and Seed Science department’s prof. Dr. Md. Monirul Islam, Agricultural Chemistry department’s prof Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan and Department of Agricultural Construction and Environmental Engineering’s associate professor Dr. Tariqul Islam Rana were also present at the event.

After placing the nameplate, the guests took part in the monajat. Habiganj Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Abdul Baset said, ‘Now, the nameplate of the temporary campus has been set up informally. In near future, the university will be officially inaugurated with all academic activities in the presence of all.’ He further said that from 2021-2022 academic year, students will be admitted under three faculties (Agriculture, Fisheries, Veterinary and Animal Science).

He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni MP and Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel MP.

On March 22 of last year, the President and Chancellor appointed Md. Abdul Baset as the Vice Chancellor of Habiganj Agricultural University for four years according to the Habiganj Agricultural University Act 2020, Section 10 (1).
