A meeting was held to prevent safe highway accidents organized by Tamabil Highway Police Station, Jaintapur.

In the speech of the meeting, Additional DIG of Highway Police Sylhet Region Md. Khairul Alam said that all illegal sand and stones along the Sylhet Tamabil-Jaflong highway will be removed.

He called on the Highway Police to play a more responsible role in checking the documents of all vehicles and stopping the movement of vehicles to ensure the safety of people and property on the road and to build safe roads. He sought the cooperation of everyone, including political leaders and the transport sector, in this work.

This opinion exchange meeting was held on Friday afternoon, January 10, 2025, at the Tamabil Highway Police Station Hallroom in Katagang of the upazila. In the meeting, the locals demanded the deployment of traffic police in the market area next to the highway to resolve traffic congestion and to provide white flags or zebra crushing on speed breakers.

The special guests at the meeting, conducted by Tamabil Highway Police Station Officer (In-Charge) Habibur Rahman, were Jaintia 17 Parganas Arbitration Coordination Committee President Abu Zafar Abul Moula Chowdhury, Nijpat Union Parishad Chairman Intaz Ali, B Upazila BNP General Secretary Abdul Hafiz, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Jaintapur Upazila Branch Amir Golam Kibria, Secretary Rafiq Ahmed, Sylhet Tamabil Jaflong Bus Owners Association President Nur Uddin, Jaintapur Press Club President Nurul Islam, Sylhet Division Road Federation Joint General Secretary Ali Akbar Rajan, Jaintapur Online Press Club President MM Ruhel. The meeting was addressed by Nijpat Union BNP President Abdus Shahid Shukrur, Jaintapur Press Club General Secretary Shahjahan Kabir Khan, Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Convener Sabbir Ahmed, Jaintapur Truck Driver Sub-Committee General Secretary Jamal Uddin, Transport Workers Leader Saiful Islam, Businessman Mosharraf Hossain. In addition, dignitaries from various walks of life including the transport sector were present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Additional DIG of Highway Police Sylhet Region Md. Khairul Alam planted saplings in the premises of Tamabil Highway Police Station.
