Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi said that Begum Rokeya's contribution to women's empowerment and education, socio-economic development, and establishing a society based on rights and equality is undeniable.

Following Begum Rokeya, the pioneer of the women's movement, the women of the country have achieved success in all fields. Because there is a dreamer man behind successful women, women are moving forward by participating in development and progress. He congratulated the best winners and said that women are the nation of mothers, their place is above all. Women should be promoted through encouragement and cooperation. He called on the women's society to work more by following the ideals of Begum Rokeya.

The Divisional Commissioner made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and a ceremony to honoir the winners of the 2024 elections in Sylhet district at the district level organized by the Sylhet District Administration and the Department of Women Affairs and like-minded government and non-governmental organizations on the occasion of "International Women's Day and Begum Rokeya Day-2024 Celebration" at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Sunday morning.

Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad presided over the ceremony, while Sylhet Police Superintendent Md. Mahbubur Rahman and Local Government Sylhet Deputy Director Suborna Sarkar spoke as special guests.

The program, which began with a welcome speech by Shahina Akhtar, Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs, Sylhet, was moderated by Priyanka Das Roy, Child Protection Officer of the Department of Women Affairs. Prominent journalist and columnist Aftab Chowdhury also spoke at the ceremony.

Two of the best winners expressed their feelings at the discussion meeting of Begum Rokeya Day, with the theme “Protecting Women and Girls, Building a World Free from Violence”.

The winners selected in Sylhet district in 2024 at the district level are - Mosha Ambia Khatun, a woman who has achieved economic success, Sheikh Rawshan Ara Nipa, a woman who has made outstanding contributions to social development, Halima Begum, a woman who has achieved success in education and employment, Nurjahan Begum, a successful mother, and Daisy Akhter Poppy, a woman who has started life with new enthusiasm after eradicating the horror of torture. The chief guest, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi, and the guests presented the best 5 winners with floral greetings, honorary crests and certificates.
