Sylhet Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Sarwar Alam said, “If you cannot work hard, no matter how talented you are, it is not possible to achieve success. You are the future of Bangladesh. If you do not study attentively, not only you but your district and upazila will fall behind.”
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam said this while addressing as the chief guest at the freshers’ reception ceremony of Goyala Bazar Government Women’s Degree College in Osmaninagar upazila on Thursday afternoon.
Addressing the teachers, he said, “Teaching is not a profession; it must be accepted as a passion and an act of worship. It is your responsibility to ensure that our students grow up to be good human beings. The guardians have entrusted their children to you as a sacred trust. Do not betray that trust; rather, help them become worthy and noble individuals.”
The college principal, Abdul Mukit Azad, presided over the ceremony. Among the special guests were Osmaninagar UNO Joynal Abedin, Osmaninagar Press Club President Joynal Abedin, Vice President Koyesh Miah, General Secretary Kabir Miah, and senior journalist Jubel Ahmad, among others.
After the freshers’ reception in the afternoon, Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam inspected various government offices, educational institutions, health centers, and development projects in the upazila throughout the day.
Besides , at 2 p.m., he visited the Osmaninagar Upazila Health Complex, at 2:30 p.m. the police station, at 3 p.m. the sub-registrar’s office, and at 3:30 p.m. distributed fertilizer and seeds among farmers in the upazila parishad premises. Officials from various government departments, teachers, and journalists were present at the events.
