Sylhet Mahanagar Jamaat views exchange with Sanatan religious people at an elite hotel in Sylhet on Tuesday night on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja.

Jamaat central working council member and Ameer of Sylhet city Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Presided over the meeting.

He said this speech, the nation has been divided in the name of religion due to political antagonism at various times in the past. We want to break down the walls of division in the name of religion. We all want to build a prosperous Bangladesh together.

Sylhet is unique in terms of communal harmony. The Jamaat will stand by the Hindu brothers for the smooth celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja festival like in the past. It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure the safety of not only Durga Puja, but all religious rituals of brothers belonging to different religions. Everyone should be alert and cautious so that no vested interests can create an unstable environment by spreading rumours. Mahanagar Jamaat Secretary Mohammad Shahjahan Ali conducted the meeting.

Among the top local leaders of Sanatan religions, Swami Chandra Nathanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Sylhet, Sylhet Metropolitan President of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Parishad and Vice-President of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Puja Udjaj Parishad, Advocate Mrityunjoy Dhar Bhola, Bangladesh Puja Udjaj Parishad were present. Sylhet District President Gopika Shyam Purkayastha, Acting President of Sylhet District of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Parishad Advocate Vijay Krishna Bis^as, Former Central Organizing Secretary of Puja Udjaj Parishad Rajat Kanti Bhattacharya, Acting President of Puja Udjaj Parishad Sylhet Metropolitan Pradeep Kumar Dev, Puja Udjaj Parishad Advocate Ranjan Ghosh, General Secretary of Parishad District Branch and Chandan Das were present here.

Shura member of Jamaat Central Majlis Maulana Habibur Rahman, Sylhet District South Jamaat Ameer Principal Abdul Hannan, Sylhet Region Jamaat Team Member Hafiz Abdul Hai Haroon, Saudi Arab Jamaat President Maulana Azad Sobhan, Metropolitan Assistant Secretary Advocate Mohammad Abdur Rob, Dr. Nurul Islam Babul and Zahedur Rahman Chowdhury.

Swami Chandra Nathanandji Maharaj, editor of Ramakrishna Mission Sylhet, said in the discussion meeting, everyone needs to have one heart as human beings. Thanks to the organizers for this beautiful initiative. Through this it is possible to build a harmonious society irrespective of caste and religion.

Rajat Kanti Bhattacharya said, Amir of Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said if a guard is not needed to worship in the mosque, why should a guard be needed in the temple. We really want such a society. Where religion belongs to everyone, the state will belong to everyone.

Advocate Arbind Das said, the courage and enthusiasm of the Jamaat in Sylhet inspired us in the difficult moment of the nation on August 6. Babu Pradeep Kumar Das, Babu Nithyanjay Roy, Kalipad Roy, Bishman Bhaganyat, Sheela Das, Balaram Komal Chandra, Nikhil Malakar, Kiresh Debnath, Sri Man Mohan, Nan Singh, Palash Chakraborty and others spoke on the occasion.

In the meeting, on behalf of the Hindus, they expressed their gratitude to the Jamaat for guarding the temple and the homes of the Hindu brothers after August 5. They urged the Jamaat to continue to cooperate to prevent any kind of undesirable situation.

In addition to the leaders of the Puja Celebration Parishad, more than 200 Sanatan religious people including the president-secretary of 151 Puja Mandavs of the city participated in the meeting. Both the leaders agreed to stop all fireworks during the puja, stop all instruments during azaan and namaz. The leaders sought mutual cooperation to celebrate the upcoming Durga Puja.
