Sylhet-6: BNP candidate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury wins

BNP candidate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury with the paddy sheaf symbol has won the Sylhet-6 (Beanibazar-Golapganj) constituency in the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum. He won by securing 1 lakh 8 thousand 612 votes in the results obtained from 192 centers.
His closest rival, Jamaat-nominated candidate with the scale symbol, Md. Selim Uddin, received 97,708 votes. As a result, Emran Ahmed Chowdhury secured victory by a margin of 10,864 votes.
The counting of votes began in the evening after the polling was held peacefully throughout the day. The results were made available privately after the center-wise results were collected. Election sources said that the Election Commission will officially announce the final results after the postal votes are added.
After the results were announced, there was excitement among BNP leaders and activists in various areas of Sylhet-6 constituency. On the other hand, there was discussion and evaluation of the results among the supporters of the rival candidate.
The election campaign in this constituency was fierce. In the end, Emran Ahmed Chowdhury won by a wide margin.
