Shahjalal University Press Club, an organization of journalists working in Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, held elections for the new executive council (2023-24). Nurul Islam Rudra, the university Correspondent of Daily Kaler Kanth, and Hasan Naeem Correspondent of Daily Amader Shomoy were elected as the president and Secratary of the 19th Executive Council.

The Elections were held at the press club office from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday (October 12).
the chief election commissioner of the university's press club office SM Saiful Islam declared the result. Election Commissioner Associate Professor Dr. Md. Shahjahan Mia and Assistant Professor Majedul Islam Khan.

The other elected members of the committee are – Vice-President Rahat Hasan Mishkat (Dainik Kalbela), Joint-Secratary Zubaidul Haque Rabin (Dainik Jugantar), Treasurer Tanveer Hasan (Azakar Patrika), Office Secretary Naeem Ahmad Shubo (Jagonews24.com).Adnan Hriday (Dainik Adhikar), Sagar Hasan Shubhra (Dainik Jugberi) and Noor Alam (Dainik Sylhet Bani) have been elected as working members.

During the announcement of the results, the treasurer of the university, Prof. Amina Parveen, director of IQAC, Dr. Md. Mohsin Aziz Khan, General Secretary of the Shabi Teachers Association, Prof. Dr. Mahbubul Hakim, Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, Syed Mujtaba Ali Hall Provost Professor Dr. Abu Saeed Arfin Khan, Assistant Proctor Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Head of Department of Public Administration Professor Dr. Ashraf Siddiqui, Associate Professor of Department of Geography and Environment. Md. Anwarul Islam, former president Nazmul Huda, vice-president Rashedul Hasan, general secretary Abdullah Al Masud, general members of the press club and members of various law enforcement agencies were present here.

After the announcement of the results, the newly elected committee leaders were congratulated by the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Kabir Hossain, Treasurer Professor Amina Parveen. Besides, various political and cultural organizations, teachers, officials and employees of the university congratulated the newly formed committee. After paying respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the newly elected members presented wreaths to the portrait of Bangabandhu along with the Vice-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer.
