Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 13.7 kg of venison along with a deer skin, head, and four legs during an anti-poaching drive in the Sundarbans under Koyra Upazila in Khulna district on Thursday morning.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release  on Thursday evening.

According to Coast Guard officials, an operational team from the Koyra Coast Guard Station conducted a special raid near the Singer Bandh area in Golkhali under Koyra Police Station around 8:00 am based on confidential intelligence.

During the drive, Coast Guard personnel recovered 13.7 kg of venison, a deer hide, four legs, and one head, valued at an estimated Tk 40,000. Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the poachers managed to escape the scene.

Lieutenant Commander Sujon stated that the seized venison and animal remains were subsequently handed over to the Kobadak Forest Patrol Post for further legal proceedings under environmental and wildlife protection laws.

The Coast Guard will maintain strict surveillance and continue anti-poaching operations to protect Sundarbans wildlife and eradicate illegal poaching networks across the region, the press release added.
