
Sudden procession by Jubo League in Cox’s Bazar
A sudden procession was held in Cox’s Bazar town under the banner of the Jubo League, involving around 20 to 30 people. The procession took place early Tuesday morning, around 6:00 AM, starting from Dolphin Mor to Sugandha Point in Cox’s Bazar town. It was reportedly led by Monaf Sikder, a local Jubo League leader and former Joint General Secretary of the Chhatra League.
Footage of the incident has already circulated widely on social media. Marchers carried a banner reading “Sheikh Hasina will return, Bangladesh (misspelled as Bangldesh) will smile,” and chanted various slogans under the leadership of Monaf Sikder.Eyewitnesses stated that the procession stopped at Sugandha Point, where Monaf Sikder delivered a brief speech before the group quickly dispersed.Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and media officer of Cox’s Bazar District Police, said that an attempt was made to create unrest by secretly organizing this procession.
Several individuals involved have already been identified, some of whom have existing cases against them. The police are currently conducting operations to apprehend them.Mohammad Elias Khan OC of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, stated that the procession took place at a time when patrol officers had returned to the station, which gave the marchers an opportunity to stage the sudden rally. Legal action is being taken regarding the incident.
