Student commits suicide after failing SSC exam in Burichong

A student Prabha committed suicide in Burichong, Cumilla after failing in the 2025 SSC exam on Thursday at 2:30 pm.
Prabha, a student of Bahumukhi High School in Bharasar upazila, committed suicide by hanging herself with a fan at her home, according to family and local sources.
The deceased Prabha is the daughter of Mostafa Kamal, a Qatari expatriate from Ichapura village in Sholanal Union of the upazila.
Prabha participated in the SSC exam this year under the Cumilla Education Board. After the results were announced, she came to know that she had failed in 2 subjects. Due to this, she had a mental breakdown. At one stage, she committed suicide by hanging herself at her home.
The victim grandfather Jahangir Alam said that his father lives abroad. He committed suicide after hearing the news of failing the exam. On hearing the news of the deceased, his father has prepared to return home from abroad.
In this regard, Burichang Police Station OC Azizul Haque said, "We have received the information. We are going to the spot. Initially, it is said to be suicide. Details will be informed after investigation."
