SSTU celebrates Its first University Day

Sunamganj Science and Technology University (SSTU) celebrated its first-ever “University Day 2025” with great enthusiasm and festivity on Monday.
The ceremony began with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Naeem, followed by Gita recitation by Pankaj Chakraborty at Jhilmil Audtitorium at 11 am. The national anthem was then performed, and the day’s celebration was formally inaugurated by cutting a cake.
The event was presided over by Prof Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of SSTU and part-time Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh Prof Dr AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury was present as chief guest . The program was conducted by Shanta Rani Saha and Saidur Rahman.
Chief Guest, Prof Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury said, the establishment of SSTU will open new horizons of higher education for the people of the haor region. Through education, research, and technology, this university will play a vital role in the economic and human resource development of Sunamganj.
Seakers were Prof Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, Vice-Chancellor of Jessore University of Science and Technology, Profb Dr. Md. Alimul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University, Khondoker Md. Reza-un-Nabi, Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet, Prof Dr. Harun-or-Rashid, Dean of SSTU Dr. Md. Elias Mia, Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj, Toufayel Ahmed, Superintendent of Police, Engineer Registrar Saf Uddin, Himangshu Acharya, DGS of Sonali Bank, and Rahat Aziz from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Special guests were Sukanta Saha, UNO, Shantiganj, Md. Ansar Uddin, Syndicate Member of SSTU and Member of Sunamganj BNP Convening Committee, Masudur Rouf Pallab, Principal of Abdul Majid College, Maulana Khalilur Rahman, President of Upazila Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, and other local dignitaries.
Students expressing their feelings included Sohanur Rahman Sohan from the Department of Chemistry, Golam Mawla from the Department of Mathematics, and Taqbil H. S. Chowdhury from the Department of Physics.
Besides, Assistant Prof Dr. Mobarak Hossain presented the university’s current activities, future plans, and development prospects through a projector.
The day-long celebration featured a discussion session, cultural performances, and active participation from students. Teachers, officials, students, and local dignitaries expressed their optimism about the university’s progress and vision for the future.
The first University Day 2025 of SSTU concluded in festive mood.
